*This position may report to one of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's offices: Central Office (Middletown), Eastern Regional Office (King of Prussia) or Western Regional Office (New Stanton).

Job Purpose and Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the administration of basic property damage, auto, and general liability claims for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Work is performed with close supervision and review by a supervisor or designee.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Processes basic claims and other claim related documents. Examines claim forms and other records. Assists with more complex claims.

Interviews and corresponds with claimants and claimant’s insurance companies.

Prepares correspondence and memoranda related to various claims activities.

Serves as a customer service representative internally and externally regarding claim issues.

Routinely reviews and updates claim file diaries.

Communicates claim policies and procedures.

Maintains files, records, and documentation relating to the status of claims and claim reports.

Monitors and collects payments for property damage claims.

Tracks and allocates costs to a variety of accounts.

Assists in the preparation of reports and records for other departments and management staff as needed.

Attends meetings, conferences, seminars, and trainings.

Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.

Performs related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience in the evaluation and payment of insurance claims;
OR
Two (2) years of experience in the evaluation and payment of insurance claims AND an associate’s degree in business
