Job Description
The Human Resource Manager will provide HR support for Hobart Brothers and division initiatives. Works directly with leaders and employees and contributes to substantial projects driving Hobart Brothers performance to its full potential. This position provides day-to-day input to the design of HR programs with a heavy emphasis on implementation, including employee relations, acting as an employee advocate, and working to ensure a strong culture, recruitment and selection, employee training and development, talent management, succession planning, employee involvement, compensation programs, and performance management. Responsible for supporting 3-shift operations across multiple plants. As the incumbent learns the business operations, contribution at a strategic level will occur.
Essential Functions:
Culture
- In concert with leadership, builds and champions a positive, union-free culture grounded in ITW core values (Trust, Respect, Integrity, Shared Risk & Simplicity) and viewed as an excellent place to work.
- Models and promotes effective communication that is clear, timely, and rooted in “What & Why.”
- Conducts required training and team building.
- Advises, conducts, and coach managers on resolving employee issues based on policy, precedent, and collaboration with HR and the management team.
- Play an active role in developing the Affirmative Action Plan for Hobart Brothers.
- Collaborate and drive employee involvement programs that drive change within Hobart Brothers.
- Works on relevant company-wide initiatives as required. Actively engaged in leading and or engaging with affinity groups such as IWN, YPN, intern outings, etc.
Strategic Alignment
- Partner with the HR team on all aspects of HR; administrative, legal, change management, and strategic work.
- Provide data and input to the Annual and Long-Range Business Plans.
- Supports goals by collaborating directly with managers on policy administration, employee relations, legal compliance, training, etc.
Talent Development
- Works with leadership to support the talent management process.
- Supports talent acquisition through screening, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new hires.
- Attend offsite hiring events with the HR team.
- Advance our diversity and inclusion initiatives in all phases of employment. Maintain records for all hiring activity and keep track of good faith efforts for Hobart Brothers.
- Work with the HR team and management to advance the onboarding process. Coordinate Full Potential initiatives such as 80/20 business process excellence and monitoring talent.
Compensation & Benefits
- Facilitate the performance and compensation management process. Research competitive wages to ensure competitiveness and monitor internal equity.
- Maintains HRIS records, personnel files, and other required documentation.
- Support FMLA/Leave of Absence tracking along with the HR Generalist.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources required.
- 3-5 years prior HR Generalist experience. Demonstrated experience in managing a range of employee relations issues preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to objectively coach employees and manager through complex and sometimes emotional issues.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Ability to form strong relationships within the business and with external partners, which will build professional credibility.
- Ability to navigate a fast-paced working environment with a high degree of flexibility.
- Experience in recruiting and onboarding, including attracting and retaining skilled labor in a manufacturing environment and professional roles.
- A solid understanding of governmental regulations and employment law, the ability to research, analyze, and interpret various data.
- Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to prioritize work and manage projects.
- Willingness and aspiration to learn.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required; Experience with HRIS (Workday), VMS (AgileOne), and ATS (SmartRecruiters) systems; is a plus.
