About the role
<p><strong>Hill International</strong> is currently seeking a <strong>Senior Project and Construction Manager</strong>, based in <strong>Milan</strong>, to support a Program Management assignment within the <strong>hospitality sector</strong>, with projects located in <strong>Italy and Switzerland</strong>.</p>
<p>On-site presence during the construction phase is required.</p>
<p>The <strong>Senior Project and Construction Manager</strong> will be responsible for ensuring that the <strong>assigned project</strong> is executed in full alignment with <strong>client requirements</strong> and <strong>overarching business objectives</strong>. The position also requires the development and implementation of comprehensive project plans, effective leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and coordination of all project-related activities within established budgetary and scheduling parameters. <strong>Responsibilities cover end-to-end project management, comprising planning, design/preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final handover.</strong></p>
<p>As a <strong>Senior Project and Construction Manager</strong>, you will be responsible for the <strong>day-to-day oversight of on-site construction and handover activities</strong>. Your role will include the <strong>administration of project construction contracts</strong>, coordination of contractor activities, liaison with permitting and utility agencies, and interaction with relevant inspection authorities.</p>
<p>You will be accountable for <strong>monitoring all contractual deliverables</strong>, ensuring the <strong>quality assurance</strong> of works executed by contractors, and verifying that all activities comply with established technical standards. In addition, you will supervise the <strong>scheduling, facilitation, and documentation</strong> of key construction-related meetings—including progress reviews, safety briefings, and inspections—and ensure the timely distribution of accurate meeting minutes.</p>
<p>Moreover, you will play a pivotal role in <strong>coordinating the permitting process</strong>, serving as a key liaison with relevant authorities. Your responsibilities will include <strong>reviewing and coordinating technical documentation</strong>, as well as <strong>managing and monitoring the permitting schedule</strong> to ensure timely submission, follow-up, and approval of all necessary regulatory authorizations in alignment with the overall project timeline.</p>
<p>You will report directly to the <strong>Project Director</strong> and collaborate closely with <strong>design consultants, contractors, hotel operators, FF&E teams, brand standards representatives, specialist consultants, and internal project management teams</strong> to ensure seamless coordination across all project phases and full alignment with both strategic objectives and the specific operational and branding requirements of the hospitality sector.</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent professional experience).</li>
<li>A minimum of <strong>10 years of experience</strong> in construction and project management.</li>
<li><strong>Fluency in English</strong> is mandatory; proficiency in <strong>French and/or German</strong> is highly desirable.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in the <strong>hospitality (hotellerie)</strong> or <strong>retail</strong> sectors is essential.</li>
<li><strong>International project experience</strong> is considered a strong advantage.</li>
<li>Strong project planning and scheduling skills; <strong>proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project is considered an advantage</strong>.</li>
<li>Experience with <strong>FIDIC contracts</strong> is considered an advantage.</li>
<li>Professional certifications such as <strong>PMI, PRINCE2, AGILE</strong>, and/or sustainability credentials (<strong>LEED, BREEAM</strong>) are considered a strong asset.</li>
<li><strong>Valid driver’s license</strong> required.</li>
<li>The position is <strong>based in Milan</strong>, with regular travel to <strong>project sites across Italy and Switzerland</strong> as needed.</li>
