The applicant should be an engineer who enjoys developing and conducting product testing in the laboratory and working as part of an integrated design and product team.

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As an Application Services Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop data analysis tools and test methods for complex Positron Emission Tomography (PET) detectors and electronics to identify root cause of non-compliances and drive mitigations.

  • Drive Root Cause Analysis efforts for electrical/ firmware product non-compliances found in prototyping, manufacturing, and installation for detectors and detector electronics.

  • Understands hardware, software, digital communication and optical interfaces.

  • Under minimal supervision, this position will collaborate with cross functional internal and external teams to perform root cause analysis on product issues.

  • Create software tools for reliability testing and prototype monitoring by working closely with engineers and technicians from multiple disciplines.

  • Investigating, defining, documenting, and communicating failure modes.

  • Escalating trends to design engineers to aid in countermeasure implementation of a corrective action and monitor effectiveness.

  • You have experience with developing data extraction tools and techniques which are vital for acquiring data from various sources.

  • You have strong computer skills to do efficient data processing, analysis and documentation.  The ability to create clear and detailed documentation is essential for maintaining and improving the applications you develop. 

  • You have effective communication and collaboration skills, which are essential for understanding requirements and explaining concepts and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • You have excellent hands-on laboratory skills, passion for experimental work with a high level of detail.

  • You have experience troubleshooting system, software, firmware, circuit board and component level failures.

Required skills to have for the success of this role:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent disciplines required.

  • 3+ years of experience software development with one or more of the following: C#, R, Python (using libraries such as Numpy, Matplotlib, Pandas) for test, data manipulation, and analysis.

  • Experience modifying test software to apply to target analysis.

  • Experience in using Visual Studio Code or similar integrated development environments.

  • Experience with SQL or Power Query is optional but preferred.

  • Experience with PowerBI and databases is optional but preferred.

  • Occasional travel (<5%) may be required to global supply chain partners, collaboration partners and Siemens MI offices in Hoffman Estates, IL and Knoxville, TN.
