Berger Transfer & Storage, Inc is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our team in St. Paul, MN! The Accounting Supervisor is primarily responsible for oversight of personnel who process accounts payable, cash application, credit and purchasing cards, approving and creating journal entries. Other roles include active participation in month-end closes, selected banking transactions, process improvements, reconciliation of accounts, analyzing results, and work as a vendor liaison. Prepare and file sales and use tax returns. Other business filings as needed. 

Responsibilities for our Accountants include but are not limited to:  

• Supervision  of 4 employees, Supervise oversee accounting related transactional      activity. Also Supervises staffing of reception area and mailroom. Coach      and develop staff.
• Banking activity administrator
• Accounts Payable leader with vendors and internal company managers.
• Provide analytical support to functional and other managers during month-end      close, annual audits, and for other needs.
• Administer accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP.
• Company Branch leader for accounts payable, cash/credit, and related matters
• Month-end close analysis for selected major areas
• Act as an analytical resource to functional managers
• Prepare  reconciliations, analyses, and journal entries
• Other duties as assigned
  
   

Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for success

• Proven Leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal experience
• Competent accounting and analytic skills
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proactive and solution-oriented
• Solid PC skills: spreadsheets, automated accounting systems, and other business      software.

Experience required:

• Five years of general accounting experience in a medium-size environment employing      automated accounting systems.
• 4-year degree with emphasis in finance, accounting, or business management
• Trucking or transportation industry experience helpful but not required.
• Supervisory experience with multiple subordinate employees – 3 years minimum.
• Demonstrated experience with process improvement and implementation tasks.
