The Work You Will Do:
This is a professional position reporting to and assisting the Chief of Human Resources with the personnel functions of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and is responsible for guiding the daily operations of part the Human Resources office, providing supervision and direction/consultation to 2 Human Resources’ staff members. You will be expected to manage the agency’s employee relations, performance management, FMLA, FSWP, Worker’s Comp, Record management and Time and Attendance programs. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performing all required tasks related to the supervision of employees, as well as planning workflow and objectives and establishing deadlines.
- Providing appropriate motivation to employees and meeting with staff regularly.
- Providing assistance to agency officials and their staff by making recommendations.
- Administering the employee relations program including recommendation pertaining to disciplinary actions, participation in appeals processes and negotiations, and process of complaints and related investigations.
- Conducting or assisting program managers with investigations and preparing written reports.
- Administering the EEO/AA, ADA and FMLA programs.
- Administering the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Assisting and consulting with the department's legal counsel in the handling of cases involving the department. Providing expert testimony on behalf of the department on personnel and employee relations matters at formal hearings, arbitration, and in depositions.
- Representing the department by performing liaison activities in the area of labor relations, and matters pertaining to agreements involving labor relations.
- Periodically reviewing and analyzing policies and procedures and making recommendations for improvements.
- Handling employee/employer relations questions and concerns on a daily basis in an effort to diffuse differences and solve problems.
- Interpreting rules, regulations and agency practices for supervisors and employees.
- Develops and provides training to employees of the agency.
