About the role
Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Project Kuiper, Amazon’s long-term initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world? It’s Day 1 for Amazon’s next billion dollar business and we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Senior Accounting Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about space, technology and bringing high, speed low latency internet to the world.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial by nature, analytical in approach and have a demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically about global initiatives and the impact to accounting. This role requires a self-starter, a keen attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced ambiguous environment. This position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Accounting Policy’s work for Project Kuiper including: supporting our operational accounting teams by researching and applying US and International accounting standards to unique business transactions, developing and updating formal accounting policies, supporting organization wide training initiatives and managing all aspects of communications to our stakeholders.
In addition, you will:
• Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders by researching and applying US GAAP to unique, significant, and/or non-routine transactions.
• Ensure appropriate documentation of accounting and reporting conclusions for complex, highly judgmental business transactions involving revenue arrangements, leases, business combinations, stock-based compensation, investments, and VIEs and consolidation.
• Develop, maintain and publish Amazon’s corporate wide accounting policies and assist with the application of these policies.
• Develop and support organization wide training initiatives.
• Manage accounting projects on an ad-hoc basis.
• Actively coach and develop staff on Amazon’s operational accounting teams.
