Job Description Summary:

Position Overview
Cambridge Associates is seeking an Associate Director to support the Private Client Practice, with responsibility for leading business-development execution and contributing meaningfully to client-relationship management. This individual will work closely with Client Directors, business-development colleagues, investment professionals, and cross-functional partners to drive new-business activity through leadership of RFPs, proposals, pitch preparation, and prospect strategy. The role will also support selected relationship-management activities across a portfolio of private clients, helping to ensure a high-quality client experience, strong follow-through, and effective coordination across internal teams.
This role is suited for a more experienced professional who brings strong project-management capabilities, sound judgment, polished communication skills, and the ability to operate with increasing independence in a fast-paced, high-touch environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing complex workflows, influencing outcomes across teams, and contributing strategically to the growth and retention of the Private Client Practice.

Job Description:

Business Development

  • Lead business-development execution for the Private Client Practice across a range of new-business opportunities, with accountability for coordination, quality, and timely follow-through.
  • Serve as a key project leader in the RFP process, managing timelines, coordinating contributors, driving deliverables, and ensuring high-quality, competitive submissions.
  • Lead preparation of proposals, pitch materials, prospect-meeting documents, and related business-development content in partnership with Client Directors and subject-matter experts.
  • Partner with Client Directors and investment professionals to shape meeting objectives, develop tailored prospect strategies, and ensure materials are aligned with prospect needs and firm positioning.
  • Oversee quality control for business-development materials, including consistency, accuracy, clarity, and alignment with firm messaging and standards.
  • Track prospect activity, pipeline developments, and next steps in relevant internal systems, while helping identify priorities and opportunities for follow-up.
  • Drive post-meeting follow-up processes, including action-item coordination, internal debriefs, and preparation of additional materials.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of business-development processes, content, and coordination practices across the Private Client Practice.

Opportunity Management

  • Manage workflow, timelines, and execution for proposals and RFP responses across multiple concurrent opportunities, often with significant complexity and senior stakeholder involvement.
  • Draft, refine, and assemble core proposal and presentation materials with a high degree of independence and strong editorial judgment.
  • Coordinate review and approval processes for external-facing materials, ensuring efficient collaboration and timely completion.
  • Maintain and enhance reusable files, templates, and supporting content to improve efficiency and consistency across opportunities.
  • Tailor materials thoughtfully to prospect needs, meeting objectives, and audience context, helping to differentiate the firm’s offering and positioning.
  • Identify gaps in content or process and proactively recommend solutions to improve overall effectiveness.

Client Relationship Management Support

  • Support ongoing relationship-management activities for selected private-client relationships, serving as a trusted partner to Client Directors and internal teams.
