About Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization
Pursue your passion for caring with the Patient Revenue Management Organization, which is Duke Health's fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization that supports the entire health system in streamlining the revenue cycle. This includes scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other essential revenue functions.
Occupational Summary
Coordinate and participate in a variety o f duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient ident ification, patient check in/out, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. Position also involves customer service, message distributi on and referrals management.
Work Performed
Prepa re for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients and completing next day preparation activities.
Check-in patient upon arrival in the practice.
Identify correct patient information in Maestro Care. Verify/update pat ient demographic and insurance data as needed. Edit Maestro Care as nee ded.
Accurately identify the appropria te account for patient visit.
Presentand educate patients on required forms and obtain signature including d istribution of PROMIS ipads as required by policy and procedure.
Completes all Maestro Care required on-line questionnaires and manage all appropriate alerts. </ p>
Obtain imprest cash bag from cash manager at beginning of s hift. Secure cash and patient payment information appropriately at all times during clinic hours.
Return im prest cash bag at end of shift to cash manager. </p >
Collect and post co-payments and balances on accounts due. < /span>
Label all patient specific chart docum ents and requisition/transmittal documents for scanning. </ span>
Explain billing to patients according to PRMO credit and collection policies.
Determine t he amount of cash to be collected based on insurance plan.
Check-out appointments.
Make return appointments by scheduling patients into the correc t appointment type, entering accurate primary care physician or referrin g physician information in Maestro Care.
Review and attach referrals to scheduled appointments as appropriate.
Answer telephone, take and deliver me ssages to providers.
Report obtained medical information from patients and referring physicians accurately, c ompletely and timely. Disseminate messages according to practice communi cation standards.
Review and resolve r egistration and referral workqueue edits daily.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written co mmunication.
Basic PC and data entry skills.
Knowledge of medical terminol ogy and telephone etiquette.
Demonstra tes ability to organize and prioritize work, provide oral and written in structions, interact tactfully with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
Must be able to apply specific departmental policies rules and regulati ons relating to verifying patient information, collecting payments and m aintaining records and forms.
Education
Work requires know ledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired thr ough high school education

Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and activities. providing service to patients or public; preferably in a he althcare related field. Experience in effectively coordinating multiple tasks
