Belonging Administrative Assistant

The Belonging Administrative Assistant supports key leaders in the Office of Belonging—the Associate Vice President for Belonging and the Director of Belonging Experiential and Clinical Learning Initiatives—by advancing the university’s prophetic mission as articulated in the Mission and Aims of BYU and assisting the university to achieve the objectives of the BYU Statement on Belonging.

This position strengthens campuswide belonging efforts through curriculum support, experiential learning coordination, assessment assistance, communication management, and general administrative functions. The role reports to the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Belonging.

Note: This is a part-time position (28) hours per week.

What you'll do in this position:

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to Office of Belonging leadership.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, appointments, and travel.
  • Reconcile Workday charges and oversee student employee timesheets.
  • Manage office supplies, technology access, and general office operations.
  • Draft and manage written communications on behalf of leadership.
  • Conduct research to support planning and decision-making.
  • Assist with various special projects and assignments.

Program Support

  • Support councils and committees directed by the AVP for Belonging.
  • Assist in coordinating clinical and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Act as the liaison between AVP-led councils and the Belonging Events Council to coordinate cosponsored events.
  • Facilitate communication with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Support belonging-related assessments, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Professional Development

  • Participate in trainings and conferences on student development and belonging.
  • Share insights to support team and departmental growth.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Administrative support experience with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving priorities and complex, dynamic schedules.
  • Ability to manage priorities and take initiative.
  • Understanding of the BYU Statement on Belonging and its application in a university setting.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive conversations constructively.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with data gathering, assessment, and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Familiarity with institutional culture and belonging-related initiatives.
