Purpose
The Project Manager will oversee projects focused heavily in collaboration with Army Future Commands. This role will be responsible for working directly with faculty, graduate students, researchers and the Army to provide technical project management support and coordination for ongoing research in an agile and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Perform project management tasks in support of the NRG and of individual faculty and research PIs, including technical task planning and scope definitions, risk identification, tracking and reporting, budget planning and task proposals, financial tracking and reporting, and collaboration with other group members and support staff to meet program objectives.
Present status and work directly with internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate internal and external meeting scheduling, notes and action items. Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Assist with special projects and any other tasks that require independent decision-making, engineering/research, and a broad organizational perspective performing related duties as requested.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
At least one year of experience with Project or Program Management in an R&D/ engineering environment, DoD, or Army environment. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate administrative information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Strong listening skills and a focus on customer advocacy.
Extensive experience with MS Office products.
Ability to travel up to 10% to work with project stakeholders.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Project Management, Robotics, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related discipline.
Familiarity with Army or DoD culture through service in the US military, employment by the US Army, or close work with the US Army through employment at a contractor.
Familiarity with academic culture.
Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or experience with Agile Project Management.
