What you’ll do...

As the Senior Director of Business Strategy & Portfolio, you will thought partner with the VP Immunology Cell Therapy and the Leadership team to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a new and dynamic organization at AstraZeneca while also developing the culture of the organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Immunology Cell Therapy in Boston, this individual will also be a pivotal member of the leadership team. The Senior Director of Business Strategy & Portfolio, will be responsible for developing, shaping and spearheading strategy for a portfolio of clinical cell therapies for patients with immune mediated diseases. You will lead the Business Planning & Operations team, drive business performance of immunology cell therapy, and strengthen employee engagement through essential communication. You will also ensure the visibility and engagement of leadership within the wider AZ organization and external environment. This role requires strategic thinking about key issues affecting R&D, organizational savvy working with senior executives, and a high degree of influencing skills. Moreover, this role offers the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with leadership teams at the enterprise level, including Oncology, Alexion, and several development partners, thereby enhancing the overall impact and reach of the position.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• B.S. Degree in Life Sciences, with 10 plus years of biopharma experience.
• Broad understanding of pharmaceutical drug development, and commercialization, ideally with experience in cellular therapies and/or immunology
• High level of understanding of key R&D processes and decision-making processes.
• Consistent attention to detail, ability to deliver to demanding deadlines and at the highest quality.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize many things at once.
• Reliability regarding business and personnel confidentiality.
• Consistent track record in delivering high risk program/projects and decision making
• Strong networking skills and an ability to achieve through engaging the co-operation of others.
• The ability to operate both independently and as part of a team simultaneously.
• The ability to build strong and sustainable relationships and the capability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.

Desirable for the role

• Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent)
• MBA, PharmD, PhD, M.D.
• Experience in more than one AZ therapeuti
