Job Description

Why join us?

General Motors is transforming into a software-driven company, building vehicles that are intelligent, personalized, and continuously improving over time. As software and data become central to the driving experience, customer profiles play a critical role in enabling personalization, continuity, and integration across the vehicle ecosystem.

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

As Staff Product Manager – In-Vehicle Customer Profile, you will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for how customer profiles function within the vehicle. This role focuses on the capabilities, data, and behaviors of a customer profile.

You will own the product vision and roadmap for the in-vehicle customer profile as a functional platform, including how it stores and manages customer data, how it evolves based on vehicle usage, and how it integrates with other products, services, and applications. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, privacy, security, and partner product teams to enable scalable, compliant, and extensible profile capabilities that support personalization across GM’s vehicle ecosystem.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, understands vehicle development, and is comfortable setting long-term vision while also delivering incremental value in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

  What You’ll Do

  • Define and own the product strategy and roadmap for in-vehicle customer profile functionality, focusing on the underlying capabilities.
  • Establish how customer profiles are structured, stored, and managed within the vehicle, including data lifecycle, persistence, and synchronization principles.
  • Lead the evolution of profiles that learn and adapt over time based on customer behavior, preferences, and vehicle usage patterns.
  • Partner with data, privacy, legal, and cybersecurity teams to ensure customer data within profiles is handled responsibly, securely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Enable integration patterns that allow other vehicle features, products, and applications to leverage customer profile data in a consistent and scalable way.
  • Collaborate with adjacent product teams to ensure seamless interoperability.
  • Define success metrics and KPIs related to profile reliability, adoption, data quality, and downstream product enablement.
  • Serve as a subject-matter leader for in-vehicle customer profile capabilities, influencing long-term platform direction while delivering incremental value

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in identity, data-driven platform services, or embedded software to cloud domains.
  • Strong systems-thinking mindset with experience defining product capabilities used by multiple products or applications.
  • Ability to work closely with engineering and architecture partners on complex, cross-system product challenges.
  • Experience balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution in an iterative development environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with embedded systems, automotive software, or connected device ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with customer data platforms, identity-adjacent systems, or personalization technologies.
  • Experience defining product strategies where privacy, security, and data governance are first-order concerns.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
