The MDM Product Principal plays a critical role in driving the success of our Enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) program. This role serves as the voice of business and technical stakeholders, translating requirements into a clear, prioritized product backlog that delivers high‑quality, trusted master data across the organization. Reporting to the Product Manager – MDM, you will own the backlog for your assigned MDM domain and collaborate closely with data governance, engineering, architecture, and business teams. You will ensure our MDM capabilities, workflows, and integrations deliver maximum value, support enterprise data standards, and enable consistent, accurate, and governed data across systems. You will serve as the MDM Product Principal for an agile delivery team, breaking down epics into actionable stories, defining acceptance criteria, and ensuring features meet enterprise data quality and governance requirements.
Responsibilities
Business Requirements & Process Analysis
Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements related to master data domains, data quality, and data governance
Translate business needs into functional MDM capabilities, including workflows, data quality rules, match & merge logic, and governance processes
Ensure functional alignment with the broader MDM roadmap and enterprise data strategy
Collaborate with the MDM Product Manager to coordinate domain dependencies, sequencing, and prioritization
Solution Design & Functional Delivery
Work closely with solution architects, data modelers, and engineers to define scalable, cross‑functional MDM capabilities
Document functional specifications including data models, data lifecycle rules, workflows, and integration requirements
Ensure proposed solutions align with MDM best practices, governance policies, and enterprise data standards
Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery
Own and manage the product backlog for your MDM domain
Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring stories are “dev ready.”
Prioritize backlog items based on business value, technical feasibility, and cross-domain impact
Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, and feature prioritization activities
Ensure stories meet the Definition of Done, including validation of data quality rules and user acceptance criteria
Cross‑Functional Delivery & Stakeholder Alignment
Partner with business stakeholders, data stewards, and governance teams to gather feedback and refine requirements
Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and feature outcomes to stakeholders and leadership
Serve as the central point of contact for your data domain, balancing business needs with governance and technical considerations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Computer Science, or Data Analytics
3+ years of experience working with MDM platforms or delivering MDM capabilities (Informatica, Reltio, Stibo, etc.)
Strong understanding of master data concepts including data governance, data quality, match & merge logic, survivorship rules, and domain modeling
Experience working in Agile environments, ideally as a Product Owner or similar role
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑management skills
Experience working with globally distributed or matrixed teams
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret and translate complex data requirements
