Position Summary

The Academic Detailer-Clinical Advisor position is an exciting pharmacist opportunity to use your clinical background in a client facing role. This role will support the Health Plan segment in all lines of business including Medicare Part D, Essential Plan, Qualified Health Plan (Exchange) and Child Health Insurance Plus (CHP). This role is an integral part of the account team and the Health Plan. As an Academic Detailer/Clinical Advisor, you will use your clinical knowledge and analytical skills in a managed care environment to positively impact the health and affordability for the plan’s membership and reduce costs for the Health Plan.

You will accomplish this by:

- Serving as the clinical subject matter expert on the account team

- Providing clinical consulting services through analyzing drug utilization patterns and trends for the health plan.

-Working collaboratively with the Health Plan to identify formulary, cost and quality optimization strategies. - You will deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, in partnership with the account owner, to clients on the clinical aspects of their benefit plan.

-Identifying opportunities for prescribers to better support their patients and will be asked to work collaboratively with providers to influence their drug and pharmacy selections.

- Identifying solutions to client’s problems and opportunities leveraging CVS Health’s clinical programs, optimally leading to program adoption.  

-Partnering with the pharmacy team at the Health Plan and across Caremark Enterprise to identify improvement opportunities to reduce fraud, waste and abuse. 

 -Work directly with Caremark and Health Plan leadership to prioritize and deliver on key objectives.

In this role, Academic Detailers/Clinical Advisors may be required, based on the client’s need, to have direct outreach with prescribers to consult and influence prescribing habits. 

This is a remote role open to qualified candidates within the United States, with the ideal candidate residing in the New England or Mid-Atlantic areas. The Academic Advisor/Clinical Advisor may be asked to perform in-office/hospital visits, and on-site meetings with the Health Plan as needed and must be willing and able to travel as required to meet business needs.


Required Qualifications

-5 years of clinical pharmacist experience with ideally 1 year of CVS Health or other Managed Care Residency program

- Active, unrestricted pharmacist licensure

- Demonstrated experience supporting PBM or health plan clients

- Proficiency in Microsoft applications

- Excellent analytical and oral/written communication skills

- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time. Travel maybe required but is not limited to flights, overnight stays, local travel, travel on short notice and other travel deemed necessary by the Company.



Preferred Qualifications

- Commitment to client service and relationship building

- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize, and resolve complex problems.

- Ability to learn multiple internal reporting and analytic tools for client management.

-AMCP Fundamentals of Managed Care Pharmacy Certificate or similar professional advancement

Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy or PharmD

Active, unrestricted pharmacist licensure

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$110,925.00 - $249,600.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
