Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Acting immediately to provide aid, including performing rescues, administering CPR or first aid, and activating the emergency action plan.

· Dispatch riders down water slides

· Assist guests with mats and tubes

· Scan the water for distressed swimmers and promptly provide assistance

· Maintain constant surveillance of your assigned area

·Roam, stand, or sit at your assigned position for extended amounts of time

· Maintain a sense of calm in tense, escalated, or emergency situations

· Perform water rescues when necessary, using appropriate techniques and equipment

· Physically assist distressed swimmers to safety in both shallow and deep water

· Enforce weight and height requirements

·Recite and enforce attraction-specific rules and regulations

· Provide first-aid to injured guests when appropriate

· Quickly and efficiently escalate medical emergencies to the proper authorities when needed

· Report customer and safety concerns as well as lost children to management

· Protect guest belongings; turn in found items to lost-and-found as soon as time permits

· Clean up assigned areas at the end of your shift

· Remove unwanted trash or tripping hazards from Aquatics areas

· Assist in other departments as needed

· Preserve landscaping (including sweeping and cleaning) in and around aquatic areas

· All other duties assigned by leadership

Education and Experience:

· No education requirements for this position

· Previous work experience is not required

· Must successfully complete the Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training Program before becoming a lifeguard at Idlewild & SoakZone. This program includes basic life support skills, first aid, and general water safety training.

All Lifeguard candidates must pass a demonstration of basic swimming and water ability. This prerequisite includes a 200-meter swim, retrieval of a 10-lb brick from 8 feet of water, and two minutes of treading water without using their hands.

Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Requirements:

· Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with PA Child Labor Laws

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

·Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from work

· Demonstrated ability to successfully perform all swim tests, water rescues, and basic life support training

· Ability to comply with all uniform policies

· Must possess a safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding aquatics safety standards

· Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and the ability to follow instructions

· Must be guest-focused and work well with other team members and supervisors

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to swim 200 yards using front crawl/freestyle or breaststroke

· Ability to retrieve a 10-pound brick from at least 8 feet of water

· Ability to tread water for 2 minutes without the use of ha
