Salary:  The previously determined range for this position was $37.52/hr to $84.22/hr*. Final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

Position Summary
Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse I functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care_x000d_ • Treats adult and pediatric patients, families, staff, and students with respect and dignity._x000d_ • Competent in all 3 areas of perianesthesia: Preop, Phase I, and Phase II._x000d_ • Initiate orders from physicians._x000d_ • Assist anesthesiologist/anesthesia team with GA induction._x000d_ • Assist with patient transport to/from PACU._x000d_ • Verify and implement provider orders; document in chart._x000d_ • Ensure accurate patient intake through chart review and communication._x000d_ • Monitor wellness and patient safety in PACU._x000d_ • Manage acute/episodic illness or GA complications in PACU._x000d_ • Monitor/document vital signs; ensure discharge readiness. Respond to emergencies in GA rooms and PACU._x000d_ • Facilitate efficient patient flow in PACU._x000d_
  • Care Coordination & Communication_x000d_ • Contact patients/families 24–48 hrs pre-op and post-op; document appropriately._x000d_ • Review/discuss home care instructions and document._x000d_ • Evaluate patient responses to care; consult and adjust plan._x000d_ • Integrate nursing care into the multidisciplinary plan._x000d_ • Identify and teach to learning needs of patients/families._x000d_ • Monitor and advocate for patient/family concerns._x000d_ • Identify specialized patient needs and inform staff._x000d_ • Assist with patient questionnaires on experience._x000d_ • Work with Dept. Heads to align strategies for care._x000d_ • Collaborate with other nurses to support learning._x000d_ • Assist in developing educational materials for GA/PACU._x000d_ • Assist with training and education of residents/students/allied health professionals._x000d_
  • Operational Support_x000d_ • Serve as a preceptor/resource to staff and students._x000d_ • Evaluate and help implement best practices/evidence-based strategies._x000d_ • Oversee PACU inventory and day-to-day operations._x000d_ • Participate in audits and accreditation processes._x000d_ • Attend in-servi
