Position Overview
Power your future with Qualus as an Accounting Intern in our Corporate Finance department. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple functional areas, including tax, accounting, internal audit, and legal support. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and contribute to real-world projects that support business operations and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Receive, categorize, and track federal, state, and local tax notices, including due dates, response requirements, and status updates.
- Review notices for entity name, Employer Identification Number (EIN), state account numbers, and filing status inconsistencies to identify discrepancies for correction.
- Draft standardized responses, acknowledgment letters, and follow-up correspondence to taxing authorities under supervision.
- Assist in identifying penalty and interest assessments and preparing documentation to support abatement or dispute requests.
- Help reconcile internal tax records with tax authority transcripts, account statements, and notices to ensure alignment and accuracy for good standing certificates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Legal) to collect and analyze data needed to resolve notices and correct records.
- Provide analytical and administrative support for ad hoc projects and reporting requests across Tax, Accounting and Finance teams as needed.
Qualifications
- Pursuing an Associate's degree or Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Excel and financial systems (Deltek experience is a plus).
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Ability to work 25-40 hours per week in our Lake Mary, FL office (at least 1-2 days) for 3-6 months.

The expected compensation range for this position is based upon several factors, including but not limited to education, qualifications, prior relevant work experience and work location.
