Department Summary

The Department of Biology is a broad-based department that consists of 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 19 instructional faculty members, and educates over 900 undergraduate biology majors, 3300 non-majors and 55 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.). Role Summary

Assists with complex accounting support work and bookkeeping, such as documenting transactions, processing payments, and preparing invoices to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Monitors grant accounts and assists in departmental budget planning, preparation, and compliance.
  • Serves as a liaison to Procurement and Accounting.
  • Coordinates and processes various administrative forms for purchasing, travel, and reimbursements.
  • Implements internal processes and assists with making recommendations for continuous improvement,
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting records.
  • Processes faculty eForms

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Performs complex accounting activities such as receiving, processing, and updating of financial transactions for an organization or team.
2. Processes travel reimbursements, accounts receivable, payroll, and other similar financial transactions.
3. Calculates, posts, reconciles, and verifies duties to obtain primary financial data.
4. Collects payment and counsels internal stakeholders.
5. Provides guidance to accounting support staff members.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High School or Equivalent

Experience: (4) Four Years Experience
