Inflammation & Autoimmunity - Scientist

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will perform independent research to study the regulation and function of immune cells and non-immune cells in inflammation and autoimmunity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Inflammation, Therapeutic Discovery, and Medical Sciences

  • Perform research studies aimed at elucidating mechanisms of immune regulation and tolerance in order to develop novel immunomodulatory therapies for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

  • Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of the department, present their results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication

  • Plan and perform laboratory experiments, analyze data, and communicate results.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in the field of immunology, cancer immunology, autoimmune diseases, human genetics, molecular biology or biochemistry OR

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of experience scientific experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or MD, in the field of immunology, cancer immunology, autoimmune diseases, human genetics, molecular biology or biochemistry

  • Experience in autoimmune diseases, preclinical animal disease models, multi-color flow cytometry, immunological assays, biochemical assays and complex cell-based assays are preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record in top tier journals or significant contributions to pipeline development

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and can work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
