Job Description
Position Summary
The purpose of the Project Engineer is to apply standard Project Management tools for development and launch of new R&D projects while planning, monitoring, and reporting the status of projects to team members and/or customers.
Essential Functions
- Utilize core principals of Project Management with projects to insure proper communication of requirements, timing, risks and resources needed to successfully execute projects on time and within budget.
- Schedule and lead PDT meetings ensuring APQP / !DEA / OPS requirements are met per customer expectations and compliance within Oetiker operating procedures.
- Schedule and lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) team meetings both internally and with customer for projects assigned as Project Manager.
- Use escalation process to maintain transparency and prevent projects from schedule deviations (PDT, Sales Meetings, Operations meetings, etc.).
- Provide guidance and leadership to project teams to lead and motivate members and complete projects on time.
- Recommend and provide continuous improvement initiatives in support of Oetiker’s PM / !DEA / OPS / R&D processes.
- Provide support in other functional areas within the organization (Engineering/Operations/Purchasing) as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of training new personnel.
- Coordinate efforts between different functional areas within the Project Development Team, and act as a liaison between R&D and customers / suppliers
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of calendar, database management, design, email, internet, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing software. Machining background very helpful. Must be able to manage multiple tasks using a variety of tools available and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong problem solving, initiative, planning, follow through, organization, teamwork and judgment skills required. The individual will also need to be comfortable working independently and have a strong action orientation.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus two to three years Project Management experience strongly preferred, or, five to seven years equivalent combination of education and experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (or pursuit of) preferred. Seven to ten years manufacturing or automotive industry experience preferred.
