Summary / Role Purpose

Ansys is seeking a Senior Automations Engineer (DevOps) to be part of a rapidly growing team that’s responsible for design, build and delivery of automation in a cloud-based environment. You will be working closely with Cloud Operations and DevOps engineers to deploy and manage automation processes and to ensure efficiency gains targets as set by the Cloud Operations Director. The role has a unique opportunity to also develop the standards and processes used by the team as we seek to grow the capability.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Exploring and implementing new ways to automate systems and processes, particularly from manual processes today
• Lead and work with DevOps engineers to install, maintain and troubleshoot control systems and various automation processes
• Programming new automated components in Powershell, Bash, and mature languages such as Python or Go
• Highly proficient in Python Programming and PowerShell Scripting
• Able to build solutions from the ground up, including architecture, deployment pipeline, and documentation
• Able to work with problem statements and generate complete solutions (I.e., Fluid & Dynamic Workplace)
• Candidate MUST have both a development background (Python/Go/Rust), but also solutions/systems architecture knowledge

• Collaborating with other business units

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Engineering discipline 
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in an automations/DevOps Role (SRE)

• Experience in reducing human interaction for defined processes
• Strong programming fundamentals; familiar with concepts such as OOP, design patterns, algorithms, etc. 
• Runbook creation experience
• Experience in automation within AWS, Azure, GCP 
• Fluent in PowerShell or Bash Scripting, and a mature language such as Python or Go
• Source/version control (Git) 
• Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with a proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks

• A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience with secure coding practices 
• Experience with project management
• Experience with webhooks, REST APIs, API keys, etc
• Experience with chatbots or other automated human/machine methods
• Experience with process improvement methods (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)
