MARC Media Gainesville - General Manager (Market Manager)
Chomping at the bit to use your skills to grow a top market in Florida? Gainesville is home to the University of Florida and the Agricultural capital of Florida. We are looking to hire a General Manager to be the lead for a media portfolio that includes seven radio stations, a newspaper that is digital first with a weekly print circulation of 20,000, and a full digital marketing agency.
The ideal candidate will be business minded first, understanding how to manage both sales (revenue) and operations (expenses). The GM is expected to run the MARC Media Content and Sales Playbooks, which sets MARC apart from other media companies.

Job Summary:
The General Manager (GM) or Market Manager for MARC Media Gainesville oversees the market’s overall operations, including radio programming, print content, omni-sales, personnel, and compliance with regulatory standards. The GM ensures the market meets audience engagement goals, generates revenue, and operates efficiently within its budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership:
- Develop and implement market goals, policies, and business plans
- Ensure compliance with FCC and other relevant regulatory bodies
- Oversee daily operations, including on-air programming, news, print, promotions and sales
- Collaborate with marketing, engineering, digital agency and accounting teams
Sales & Marketing:
- Drive revenue through advertising and sponsorship sales
- Build and maintain relationships with advertisers, agencies, and sponsors
- Work with sales and promotions teams to develop and execute campaigns
Programming & Content Oversight:
- Collaborate with the Radio Programming Manager and on-air staff to ensure high-quality content that aligns with the station’s brand and target audience
- Monitor ratings and audience feedback to refine programming strategy
- Collaborate with Newspaper Publisher to ensure high-quality content that aligns with the station’s brand and target audience
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Optimize costs while maintaining high performance and content standards
Team Leadership:
- Hire, train, and manage key staff
- Foster a collaborative and creative work environment
- Ensure adherence to company policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Business, or related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in media management to include radio, print, or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of radio operations, print, digital, advertising sales, and media regulations
- Proven leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret audience analytics and market research
- Familiarity with FCC rules and public file requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with digital content and multi-platform media strategies
- Strong understanding of local market demographics and behavior
- Proficiency in broadcast automation systems and CRM software
