Senior Systems Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
ASRC Agile Decision Sciences LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance to join our Command-and-Control Support Agency (CCSA) Technical Services Division (TSD) support team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing advanced systems engineering, integration, troubleshooting, documentation, and lifecycle support in complex DoD environments. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in a mission-critical, fast-paced Pentagon environment.
The Senior Systems Engineer will support enterprise systems that enable HQDA, CCSA, and mission partner operations across classified and unclassified environments. The engineer will design, plan, integrate, sustain, and troubleshoot enterprise systems, virtualization platforms, and Windows-based infrastructures supporting operational readiness.


The roles and responsibilities of a Senior Systems Engineer include:
• Works independently designing, planning, implementing, and maintaining enterprise systems across Windows Server, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and multi-domain environments.
• Provides Tier II/III engineering support, including advanced troubleshooting of servers, applications, virtualization clusters, system interfaces, and storage environments.
• Develops and maintains system documentation, technical diagrams, engineering artifacts, configuration baselines, SOPs, and system specifications.
• Supports system lifecycle operations including installation, upgrades, patching, STIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management.
• Collaborates with cybersecurity, network operations, database, storage, and C2 system teams to ensure cross-domain integration and mission continuity.
• Performs performance analysis, capacity planning, system optimization, and reliability engineering for enterprise systems supporting CCSA.
• Supports backup and restore operations, disaster recovery, COOP/ERG, and contingency planning activities in accordance with mission requirements.
• Works closely with customers to document system requirements, define engineering tasks, validate system performance, and ensure service level agreements are met.
• Provides training, technical mentorship, and engineering guidance to junior system administrators and technical staff as required.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least Eight (8+) years of hands-on experience performing systems engineering, systems integration, and advanced troubleshooting in DoD or enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with Windows Server 2012 R2/2016/2019, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, clustering, storage, and enterprise virtualization (VMware ESXi/vCenter).
• Experience implementing system hardening, STIGs, patch compliance, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Ability to design, deploy, and sustain enterprise system architectures supporting large operational user bases.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and resolving complex cross-domain issues involving networks, applications, servers, and virtualization layers.
• Demonstrated ability to create engineering documentation, diagrams, white papers, and configuration procedures.
• Familiarity with C2 systems, HQDA operational environments, or support to Army missions is desired.


CERTIFICATIONS:
• IAT Level II or III, IAW DoDD 8140.01 / DoDI 8570.01-M (Security+ CE minimum; CISSP/CASP+ preferred)


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 4+ additional years of directly relevant systems engineering experience may be substituted.


CLEARANCE LEVEL:
• An active DoD Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
• Candidates without a Top Secret clearance will not be considered.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This role will be full-time on-site at the Pentagon.
• Some after-hours or on-call support may be required to meet mission needs.
