🩺 What You'll Do

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

⭐ Assist the DON in planning, developing, and supervising nursing staff activities

⭐ Assist with the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures

⭐ Partner with the DON to recruit, hire, orient, and train nursing staff

⭐ Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions

⭐ Serve as a backup to the DON and provide nursing leadership as needed

⭐ Provide direct resident care when necessary

⭐ Oversee daily clinical operations, conduct rounds, and monitor resident conditions

⭐ Ensure resident safety and promote dignity, respect, and quality of life

⭐ Serve as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members

⭐ Attend and lead staff meetings in the DON's absence

⭐ Provide reports and recommendations regarding nursing operations

⭐ Assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing systems that support quality care and resident rights

⭐ Support staff education and ongoing in-service training programs

⭐ Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents and employees

⭐ Stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate updates appropriately

⭐ Assist with the overall supervision and management of nursing staff

πŸŽ“ Qualifications

βœ” Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license

βœ” Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

βœ” Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

βœ” Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing

βœ” 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting

βœ” Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

βœ” Experience with regulatory compliance and survey readiness

βœ” Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

βœ” Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred

βœ” Ability to interpret regulations, policies, and clinical procedures

βœ” Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and read regularly throughout the workday

βœ” Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

βœ” Frequent use of office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines

βœ” Occasional travel may be required

General Purpose

Define the rolls and responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Β Assists the Director of Nursing in directing activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel whom provide health care and nursing services to residents on a 24-hour, 7day per week basis. Β 

Essential Duties

  • Assists the DON in planning, developing and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Works with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.

  • Assists DON with employee appraisals, and resolving problems including disciplinary action.

  • Acts as the back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
