Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Medical Assistant in our Outpatient Department.
Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant supports the medical and nursing staff in providing care and comfort to infant, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients during outpatient clinic appointments by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks. In addition, the Medical Assistant is responsible for phlebotomy and assisting with the application and removal of casts.
Qualifications
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon first day of hire (through American Heart Association)
Medical terminology
Must be comfortable working within an electronic medical record
Excellent customer service and communication skills with a strong commitment to teamwork
Preferred:Medical Assistant certification/program1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting2 years of recent medical assistant experience in a clinic or physician's office (beyond internship)
Other
