Summary
Spire is seeking a Linux Server Administrator who will be responsible for managing the server ticket queue and maintaining and supporting the organization’s Linux server environments. The Linux Server Administrator will provide Tier II support for escalated user issues. This position is also responsible for participating in disaster recovery functions, file restores, testing and supporting server applications, and collaborating with the Patch Management Group on server patching.
Duties and Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on workstations and servers.
Customize Linux environments to meet the specific needs of different departments (e.g., R&D, Infrastructure, etc.).
Deploy and manage software applications and development tools for workstations and servers.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring workstations run efficiently.
Apply system updates, security patches, and maintain overall system security.
Develop and maintain scripts for automating system management tasks, including software deployment, configuration changes, and monitoring.
Implement configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) to automate and standardize workstation setups.
Ensure compatibility and proper configuration of hardware components, including CPUs, GPUs, storage devices, and peripherals.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues.
Configure and manage network settings on Linux workstations.
Ensure secure connectivity for workstations through VPNs, firewalls, and other network security measures.
Provide technical support to end-users for Linux-related issues, both remotely and on-site.
Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and network issues in a timely manner.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Implement and enforce best practices for system security, backup, and disaster recovery that aligns with security governance, risk, and compliance.
