Overview
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the operation of the Accounts Payable Team. These responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring the accounts payable team follow the processes and procedures within the accounts payable department. This position will have a strong background in accounts payable processes, attention to detail and ability to manage complex inquiries.
The Accounts Payable Manager also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally, as well as, with our external customers.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Accounts Payable (AP) function.
- Lead the employee life cycle for AP Processors and Specialists, including hiring, coaching, and team development.
- Clearly communicate performance metrics to the team, ensuring accountability and adherence to goals.
- Supervise, monitor, and evaluate daily AP activities, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure precise data entry and effectively resolve any conflicts or discrepancies within AP processes.
- Oversee monthly performance metrics and enforce adherence to internal controls.
- Provide support to the team by assisting with escalated issues and complex inquiries.
- Monitor and manage departmental tickets, ensuring all are addressed, including unassigned ones.
- Continuously optimize the AP team by developing and implementing new processes, tools, and improvements as necessary.
- Oversee Repay activities and manage decision-making for Positive Pay in the accounting software.
- Train and onboard new team members to ensure they are proficient in AP procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly manage a team of about 10 AP Processors and AP Specialists
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma required. Associate degree with a concentration in Business and/or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years related accounting management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- General knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of the general ledger
accounts is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of all processes within the accounts payable department.
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry skillset is a must.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills creating effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong people management skills to coach, train, and guide team.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate command of computer hardware/software is required; specifically, proficient in the knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Fluent in the English language is required.
