Director of Hospitalist

Directs, coordinates, and executes activities necessary for the overall daily operations of the Hospitalist Department. Performs operational duties which include ensuring patient assignment, billing processes, provider scheduling, provider payroll, and follow up on patient concerns and documentation needs. Serves as a liaison with facility department directors and staff. The individual demonstrates personal and professional responsibility; creates and maintains an environment, which promotes mutual trust, acceptance, recognition and respect. performs operational and administrative duties which include efficient patient assignment, management of chart flow & billing processes, provider scheduling and assisting the Medical Director on a daily basis. The Director also performs patient rounding and follow up calls with discharged patients to ensure patient satisfaction and practice quality requirements are at or above contractually required levels.

Qualifications

A. Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing

B. Experience: Minimum 3 years clinical and management experience in a hospital setting

C. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current Alabama Registered Nursing License

D. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Computer and related software.

E. Specialized Skills: Proficiency with above equipment and software; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions; ability to form effective working relationships with a wide variety of hospital and community resources.

F. Physical Requirements: Routine bending, stooping, squatting and overhead use of arms for retrieving items from shelves. Ability to sit daily for prolonged periods of time, frequency daily. Ability to move and/or lift (20 lbs.), frequency not more than once monthly. Moderate amount of daily walking and standing, frequency daily. Normal or corrected visual, hearing and speech acuity.
