About the team 

Roku’s Controllership team, led by the Chief Accounting Officer, is comprised of a diverse and talented group of professionals dedicated to ensuring financial compliance, timely close processes, accurate financial reporting and operational excellence across the finance landscape. The SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting group within the Controllership team is a collection of technical accounting experts, translating complicated topics into simplified explanations for our business partners and Wall Street. We collaborate cross-functionally with many departments including legal, FP&A, investor relations, communications and the Roku executive team.   

  

About the Role  

We are looking for an Sr. Analyst, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to support the preparation of Roku’s SEC filings and conduct accounting research on complex transactions. This role ensures compliance with the accounting and disclosure requirements of GAAP while also generating financial insights that influence operational decision-making. Candidates can expect to gain exposure to technical areas such as business combinations, strategic investments, impairment of goodwill and long-lived assets, segment reporting, leasing, and embedded derivatives. 

  

A successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated history of delivering high-quality work products. They will also possess a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to develop and propose solutions based on a solid understanding of the accounting and disclosure requirements of US GAAP. This position will be based out of our San Jose office and will report to the Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. 

  

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $140,000−$148,500 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off. 

  

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of SEC documents, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP 
  • Conduct disclosure benchmarking against industry peers to support management’s disclosure objectives while maintaining compliance requirements 
  • Monitor, assess, and contribute to the implementation of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company, partnering with stakeholders to analyze organizational impacts 
  • Support quarter-end processes, including documentation of monitoring activities over Roku’s strategic investments, impairment analyses on long-lived assets and goodwill, and segment reporting 
  • Assist with technical accounting research and analysis on non-recurring and complex transactions 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including business operations, general accounting, tax, treasury, legal, and HR 
  • Contribute to special projects or ad hoc tasks as needed 

 

We’re excited if you have

  • 4+ years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm or in a technical accounting role at a public company 
  • CPA license, or equivalent, required 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and dis
