About the role:
The Sr. Group Manager, Medical Affairs supports the development of, and executes on, the annual IO&E Medical Strategic Plan.  This role provides medical and scientific therapeutic area expertise to cross-functional teams and ensures Medical Affairs deliverables are being met in support of the IO&E portfolio product strategy. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of a Medical Affairs team of Medical Affairs Managers, Associates, and related positions ensuring that the Medical Team is deployed appropriately to support achievement of strategic objectives. You will be responsible for establishing, fostering, cultivating, and maintaining bi-directional scientific communication with multiple internal and external entities (external scientific and medical leaders, academic medical institutions, disease and patient societies, etc) to advance the appropriate application of therapies that provide life-enhancing outcomes.  

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Deliver on the Global Medical Plan by providing guidance on data generation, knowledge exchange/data communication/education and ongoing scientific support for initiatives related to the portfolio  
• Manage activities of Medical Affairs staff to maximize pro-active contributions to Medical Affairs activities and ensure that the group meets commitments, deliverables, and deadlines.
• Manage/implement team structures that best meet business needs. Identify and develop clear job functions/responsibilities and effectively communicate expectations to team members. Manage performance to expectations.
• Allocate and manage resources appropriately. Manage budgets. Define and implement team processes to ensure executional excellence.
• Support Commercial, Regulatory and Market Access departments with medical expertise input and scientific materials to complete promotional material development or regulatory/funding applications.
• Provides input into global and regional clinical trial programs associated with assigned product(s) e.g. trial design, site selection, lead publication plan, advisory boards, and medical sections of any regulatory documents.
• Manage team to ensure relationships with External Experts are being developed and maintained appropriately and that stakeholder management is in line with strategic direction of the business unit
• Develop strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, therapeutic area leaders, scientific societies, external influencers and internal stakeholders in support of above-listed activities.  
• Maintain subject matter expertise through medical and scientific literature, and attendance at congresses in interventional oncology.
• Initiate, build, and maintain internal & external relationship at all levels to achieve divisional, department, and initiative goals. Participate and collaborate across the industry and within BSC to ensure executional excellence.
