A day in the life.
As our Practice Leader on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll:
- EH&B Practice Leadership
- Contribute to success by driving profitable growth, ensuring both agency and departmental goals are met.
- Promote interdepartmental and regional resource sharing where it adds value.
- Champion the MMA sales process by reinforcing Accelerate methodology.
- Drive innovation – continually seeking better ways to serve clients.
- Assess and communicate trends in lost, new and renewal business.
- Lead EH&B leadership team monthly calls. Collaborate with leadership team to assess practice needs and set short and long-term priorities.
- Work closely with local EH&B Team Manager to develop project plans and achieve key deliverables; and ensures regular communication of progress to EH&B colleagues.
- Routinely visit office locations and participates in agency meetings as needed.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve profitability objectives while maintaining operational effectiveness and efficiency and most importantly, maintaining commitment to excellent client service.
- Ensure that all EH&B colleagues understand the scope of resources available and is able to assist with implementation.

- Drive divisional activity to attract, develop, and retain the industry’s best talent.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives to formulate credible, effective, long-range strategies.
- Support annual budgets that reflect growth goals and business conditions and support strategic initiatives.
- Support MMA’s efforts in striving to be a top workplace.
- Champion corporate initiatives: supports executive leadership with corporate deliverables including business forecasts, budgets, financial reviews, reporting as needed.
- Manage Departmental Operations
- Develop strategies, efficiencies/best practices and action plans and budgets for department in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Regularly review current products, processes, services and procedures to create an environment emphasizing continual improvement.
- Attend meetings in support of local/regional/national initiatives as needed.
- Foster knowledge sharing among employees to address issues surrounding workflow, markets, products, legislative issues and best practices.
- Act as liaison between other teams and departments/offices to promote strong communication and problem solving as situations arise.
- Stay informed regarding technical knowledge, market trends, company information and other operating techniques and pass along information as necessary.
- Maintain relationships with insurance carriers and administrative partners and coordinate efforts on agency contracts.
- Execute department-related initiatives.
- Maintain Relationships With Insurance Carriers/Vendors
- Participate in annual partner carrier planning sessions.
- Represent agency on company councils and advisory groups.
- Notify SVP of Operations of any company known to be in financial trouble so that we can notify policyholders of the company’s status if necessary.
- Keep team informed of carrier personnel changes.
- Maintain long-term, high quality relationships with carriers and vendors, monitoring business placed in order to leverage programs that enhance the level of service and support provided to clients;
- Identify and communicate emerging industry trends, issues, and market intelligence to Producers, clients, team members and leadership;
- Partner with internal leaders on maintaining, reviewing and negotiating carrier contracts;
