JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Painter to perform high-quality painting, surface preparation, and facility repairs throughout the healthcare environment. We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of skilled/journeyman-level painting experience in a commercial, institutional, or healthcare setting, along with strong knowledge of spray booth and cup gun experience, painting techniques, safety practices, and related repairs. Works under direct supervision to perform skilled work in painting.
Work Location: Dallas Campus; may or may not require travel to and from other UTSW locations.
Shift Requirement: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

- Education
- High School Diploma , vocational school or equivalent
- High School Diploma , vocational school or equivalent
- Experience
- 5 years skilled or journeyman level experience as painter in a commercial, institution or healthcare setting.
JOB DUTIES
- Determines and selects the types of tools and materials to be used in various assignments.
- Works with departments from the initiation and finalization of a job(s).
- Matches color of paints and stains for jobs.
- Keeps track of paperwork, time sheets, safety, meetings, and work orders.
- Paints and performs sheetrock repairs, VCT, and carpet repairs.
- Performs duties of supervisor in their absence.
- As needed, acts as a Lead on assigned jobs.
- Prepares surfaces for paint, using sandpaper, steel wool, wire brushes, or paint remover. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putt, plaster, or other filler.
- Selects premixed paint or matches paint to specified colors. Applies paints, varnishes, shellacs, enamels, or other finishes.
- Erects scaffolding when necessary, and spreads cloths over floor and furniture to protect from splattered paint. Removes splattered paint upon completion of job.
