Our Motor-Gearbox team is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to be part of a team specializing in the development of advanced EV mechanical propulsion systems.

The Role:

  • Contribute to the design and development of EV mechanical propulsion systems.
  • Having a bias in housing/casing/structural design, you will be a key actor within the design team to support the integration of complimentary sub-systems into an optimized architecture consisting: motors, geartrains, lubrication systems and other structural, thermal, and rotational components.
  • Partner with colleagues in test, manufacturing, quality, software, supply chain, vehicle attributes, and other teams to solve challenges and achieve breakthroughs that will take Lucid’s powertrain technologies to the next level.
  • As part of a growing global team, you may need to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of casting processes, applicability, benefits and limitations.
  • Casting design and complimentary sub-system architecture knowhow
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience focused on new technology development.
  • Outstanding technical problem-solving abilities based on a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of DFM/DFA/DFS (serviceability)
  • Strong CAD skills-preferably CATIA V6/3DX
  • Demonstrated understanding of GD&T and production of manufacturing and assembly drawings
  • Experience of project management and team leadership
  • Proactive, pragmatic & logical working approach and curious nature.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced rapidly changing environment.
  • Collaborative team player personality.

Preferred:

  • Automotive, aerospace, motorsport powertrain experience; especially transmission and EV powertrain systems
  • Romax / MASTA / FEA experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical fabrication, prototyping and/or test experience.
  • Complete transmissions system knowledge.
  • Gear and other rotating parts design.
  • Previous direct involvement in product launch or manufacturing support for mass production
  • Experience with DMFEA, 8D, DOE, Six Sigma, or other structured problem-solving methodologies

Education:

  • BS plus 5 yrs, minimum (MS plus 3yrs preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions ,including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors. ·       California (Bay Area) - $115,000-$165,000/yr Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k.The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
