Shipping & Receiving in Alsip IL

1st Shift: Monday - Friday 730am - 4pm, OT and Weekends as needed

Pay based in experience

 

The Shipping and Receiving personnel will perform all shipping and receiving functions with excellent accuracy and efficiency.  Pack, assemble order, and correctly handle paperwork.  This position requires the capability to read, understand, and perform to Standard Work Instructions.

 

Job Duties:

• Be aware of company safety procedures and standards to insure individual and collective safety, in addition to avoiding unnecessary risk to oneself, co-workers, contractors, customers, and property.  Be a stand for safety having the courage to call forth and report unsafe practices.

• Receive and move material to work, dock, or storage areas.

• Perform to Standard Work Instructions.

• Participate in ‘5 Whys’ problem-solving exercises.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Arrange for carrier pickup.

• Inspect material for critical dimensions per blueprint and good receipt.

• Responsible for SCAR creation for discrepant material.

• Create and update measured dimensions per blueprint on survey sheets.

• Confirm that material has chemical and physical certification on good’s receipt has been received.   Accept and enter material has that passed inspection into SAP.

• Work in paint booth as needed.

• All other duties as assigned.

                             

 

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of shipping/receiving experience

• Manufacturing experience is required

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Ability to work with minimum supervision, and work well with others, with a high sense of urgency

• Basic computer skills

• Capable of safely operating table saw and radial arm saw

• Capable of reading and following standard work

• Excellent past work record (performance, attendance and attitude)

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within two months on the job

 

 

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time

• Hand-eye coordination to safely drive a forklift

• Works within a manufacturing environment, with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, and chemicals

 

Union Relationship:

We proudly partner with District No. 8 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers with a closed shop, which means that all hourly employees are union members.

• New employees are regarded as probationary for the first 60 working days of their employment.

• After probation, the employee will join the union with an initiation fee and monthly dues.

• Vacation and salary increases are determined by the union contract.
