Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean and in coordination with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Marketing & Recruiting, the WCU School of Pharmacy Admissions Specialist is responsible for supporting the functions of admissions and recruiting, particularly by recruiting students and assisting with School of Pharmacy admissions documents/records.

- Assist the university in implementing the statement of purpose
- Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional plan
- Develop an annual recruitment plan focusing on developing partnerships with primary and secondary educational institutions and community partners within an assigned territory.
- Attend in and out-of-state recruiting events with some overnight trips to colleges/universities to recruit students for WCU School of Pharmacy. Record and follow-up with all leads after each event.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with guidance counselors and advisors at the most promising educational institutions within our region. Conduct routine planned visits to strengthen these relationships.
- Schedule and provide campus tours for prospective students, members of visiting institutions, and Interview Day attendees.
- Counsel prospective applicants and help guide students through the WCU and PharmCAS admission processes.
- Assist in the creation and acquiring of promotional materials.
- Mail and email prospective and accepted student packets and assist with mass communications campaigns to prospective students
- Assist in planning and execution of tasks or events sponsored by the School of Pharmacy, Admissions, or University to achieve established campus goals.
- Assist in processing all required student admissions documents and transcripts, entering documents into the University’s student management system (i.e. CAMS), creating reports and filing materials.
- Assist with social media marketing.
- Organize and attend admissions and recruiting meetings.
- Create, transcribe and distribute meeting agendas and minutes.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office Professional software.
- Computer networking skills to participate in virtual meetings and recruiting activities.
- Flexible schedule amenable to travel within the United States.
- Experience in proofreading and editing.
- Punctual and able to work required hours.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, complete multiple assignments, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, demonstrate tactfulness and discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to solve problems effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Health, or Education-related fields preferred but not required.
- Experience in admissions or related university function particularly in a professional health sciences program (pharmacy, nursing, medicine, etc.) is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator.
- Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
