Position Type: Full-time

Location: Annandale, Virginia | Frequent travel to other PHILLIPS campuses required

What the HR Manager does:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations
  • Coach and support managers with a people-first, legally informed approach to policy, performance, and feedback
  • Help shape and deliver training, engagement, and retention initiatives that connect with our school-based staff
  • Be a visible and present HR leader across all campuses — building trust and rapport onsite while supporting cross-campus consistency
  • Provide oversight (not day-to-day execution) of recruitment, onboarding, and payroll — handled by external partners
  • Help ensure our HR practices are compliant, consistent, and aligned with PHILLIPS’ mission and values

What the HR Manager brings to the team:

  • 5+ years of HR experience, ideally with a focus in employee relations, investigations, and coaching
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • A warm, approachable presence with the confidence to lead conversations and set boundaries
  • An ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of staff — especially teachers, clinicians, and support professionals
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) strongly preferred
  • Experience in education, nonprofit, or human services environments a plus
