About the team
ECommerce Database Services
Our Database Services team keeps us moving each day. The team oversees the database systems that deal with high volume OLTP, mission critical batch job and large database warehouse.
The environment the team in charge of covers development, QA, production, DR and more with about total sized 2PB databases.
What you’ll own
Database related software Installation, configuration, tuning and patching, this includes but not limited to Db2 LUW, PostgreSql, EFM, Pgbouncer
Daily support for production and non-prod environments, proact and react to issues, need rotation to be on call for production support
Maintain a high available, reliable production environment
Handling Disaster recovery on a planned flip over or unplanned outage
Monitor, capture, and performance tuning bad SQLs
Capacity planning and scaling the system to full fill the fast-growing business
Expand and shrink database storage
Script and automate the day-to-day tasks
Provide consult service to engineers when they create tables, write SQLs etc.
Where you’ll own it
While we’re a large team of Worldpayers based in North America, this position may be remotely anywhere within the United States or Canada - excluding West Coast time zones.

At least 8 years of DBA experience with 5 years of hands-on experience in IBM Db2 LUW
Strong experience in Linux
Solid shell scripting skill and be able to write DB maintenance scripts for automation
Experience in multi-data center, disaster recovery and high availability, business continuity
Be able to identify and own the tuning or maintenance items
Troubleshooting skill - be able to narrow down and pinpoint to the root cause and provide the proper fix
Be able to handle high pressure when deal with production issues,
Be efficient and meet deadline for projects
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or information technology or equivalent years of experience
