At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking an Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory.
The primary responsibilities of the Medical Technologist include automated immunochemistry and general chemistry in a CAP and CLIA accredited laboratory.
Required Qualifications for Medical Technologist
Education: Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS), medical technology (MT), chemical, physical or biological science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a clinical, research, or analytical laboratory.
Certification: Current Louisiana license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist.
Knowledge: CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications for Medical Laboratory Technician
Education: Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or clinical laboratory science; OR
Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in automated immunochemistry and general chemistry.
Certification: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification (e.g., MLT(ASCP)) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in laboratory procedures and technology, attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication and teamwork abilities.
