As the Mechanical Engineering Manager will lead a small team that aids in the development of new products for both new and existing markets. You lead a team responsible for the mechanical development of new products and will be responsible for overseeing programs from inception through safe launch including FEA,CFD, FMEA, prototyping, and DVP&R testing. This role is based out of the Vandalia, Ohio facility and requires on-site work as well as both domestic and international travel.
Your responsibilities will be to:
Lead a small team of mechanical/analytical engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Ensure team alignment with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
Oversee the department’s budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effective operations.
Continuously develop in depth multidisciplinary application knowledge with a systems thinking approach that fully understands the customer’s value proposition in the marketplace and how we enable it while also spreading this knowledge broadly across internal teams through targeted activities.
Maintain a deep multidisciplinary understanding of our products, manufacturing processes/capabilities, and technical/operational expansion capabilities, to provide detailed and accurate product requirements, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and their application.
Lead technical project reviews with internal teams and customers covering such topics as: Testing overview (internal and external), development of DVP&R, FMEA’s, and Launch Timing.
Develop cost models of competitor products, lead in the accurate creation of our product cost models, and compare to make recommendations to internal teams all while ensuring profitability and sustainability.
Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the patent landscape surrounding the applications supported including the patents of our customer and their competitors and suggest patentable and innovative ways our products can help differentiate our customers from their competitors.
Actively and purposefully teach critical multidisciplinary knowledge to other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Our requirements:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field with 15+ years of applicable experience or a graduate degree in the same fields with 10+ years of applicable experience.
Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks or Solid Edge Preferred)
A proven track record of solving complex technical problems with empathy, creativity, and technical prowess.
Strong leadership skills, capable of mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
