The Director, Privacy promotes and supports a culture of ethics and compliance at Marriott as a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for advancing the customer data privacy agenda. Part of the Business Intelligence organization, the Director, Privacy will provide privacy support and subject matter expertise on privacy and data protection issues as the regulatory and business landscape evolves. This role partners closely with the Global Privacy Office (Legal), Global Technology, Global Information Security, Marketing, Loyalty, Digital, and continents to develop and implement processes and scalable technical solutions to enable automated privacy controls and reduce risk as well as monitor these programs for sustained compliance. Within the Privacy portfolio, the Director will be responsible for the Consent Product and partner with Marketing to drive the Consent & Contactability program. The Director will also be responsible for supporting special projects and inquiries in support of Global Privacy needs and objectives, and will work closely with the Senior Director, Privacy, and the rest of the Privacy team to develop and advance the Privacy roadmap.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Required
· 6+ years of professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
· 3+ years of data privacy or data protection experience, preferably in the retail or hospitality industry
· International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certification
· Familiarity with best practices around privacy policies, principles, and technology tools
· 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major
· Proven skill in leading and influencing across multiple functional organizations (e.g., IT, Global, Marketing) in support of business priorities
· Demonstrated experience and success leading with influence across a highly matrixed, cross-functional organization
· Superior written and oral communication and executive presentation skills
· Strong project management skills with proven ability to translate vision to action, structure a project, manage scope, budget, and timeline to deliver measurable business results and value
Education and Experience Preferred

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Consent Product Owner
· Lead for the Consent product within the Business Intelligence organization
· Partner with Marketing to drive the Consent & Contactability program - identifying, defining, and driving the forward-looking strategy and advocating for a unified customer consent experience that clearly demonstrates the value exchange and benefit for the customer/guest
· Partner with system and business owners to ensure operational excellence of channel consent capture and consent enablement in downstream systems and parties; Evaluate existing consent and privacy tools, policies, and processes to identify improvement opportunities
· Drive enterprise success metrics for consent and data privacy (e.g., Contactability Health and Consent Visualization dashboard), evolving as needed to adequately measure program and product success and provide regular leadership updates
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with Marketing, Loyalty, Digital, Technology teams and associated stakeholders. Foster a positive climate to build effective teams that are committed to organizational goals and initiatives
· Provide subject matter expertise for consent and data privacy - research and respond to privacy-related questions from leadership, customers, and regulators
Privacy Support, Special Projects & Inquiries
· Work with the Marriott Legal, Digital Compliance, Global Technology, and continent teams to understand the ever-evolving global data privacy and protection laws (e.g., GDPR, U.S. States, South Korea) within countries Marriott operates and translate regulatory requirements into business implications and remediation options
· Support Sr. Director, Privacy in responding to high-priority regulatory requests and inquiries by providing subject matter expertise and/or leading coordinated response from required discipline teams. Support efforts to improve processes and procedures following response submissions. Coordinate with Business Leaders to resolve any findings, as needed, within defined remediation timelines.
