About the role
Summary
Performs extensive accounting functions related to the assigned area for the School Nutrition Program, using a wide variety of accounting skillsEssential Duties
- Examines, codes, verifies, balances, and reconciles various types of transactions, listings and invoices, vouchers and reports
- Develops and prepares complex reports including estimates and forecasts and income and expenditure reports as needed by the Executive Directors, Coordinators, and Area Supervisors
- Verifies accuracy of data received, runs macros to format, and transmits meal count claims and financial records to the State monthly before deadline
- Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss, and documentation of revenue and expenditures for schools monthly
- Prepares regular, adjusting and closing journal entries for submission to the Fulton County Accounting Department for upload on a monthly basis
- Keys and maintains financial records and management data for each school monthly as required by Federal, State and Local regulations and policies
- Tracks and analyzes management data to support Area Supervisors by the established deadline for school level cost such as: food, non-food, equipment and other products
- Performs monthly audit verification on all claim and financial data
- Processes vendor invoices by checking for accuracy and completeness Identifies discrepancies and determines alternative courses of action
- Consolidates, checks, and downloads weekly orders for all schools and distribute to vendors
- Works with contacts outside immediate work area for such purposes as obtaining, verifying, or providing information concerning accounting documents as needed
- Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures to prepare reports, and review records
- Manages allocations and distribution of USDA foods in accordance with menus weekly
- Communicates with managers and vendors regarding shortages, invoice errors, delivery issues, recalls, substitutions, and all other pertinent information
- Maintains an electronic file of all food substitutions Maintains documentation for recalls, vendor complaints, physical hazards, USDA foods, bid documents, etc. for audit purposes
- Creates training materials for School Nutrition managers in related field
- Updates and posts products, prices, and vendor codes in School Nutrition ordering systems as they occur
- Works directly with School Nutrition Coordinator to ensure accurate data is available in accordance with established timelines
- Acts as a liaison with the Fulton County Accounting Department
- Maintains various spreadsheet and word processing documents, as well as exercising problem-solving skills as required
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

High School Diploma or GED equivalentCertification/Licensure
None requiredMust be willing to acquire additional training as directed by managerExperience Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience working in an accounting related field; Experience in developing Excel spreadsheets, constructing formulas for reports and data collectionKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Requires knowledge of department policies, procedures, and acceptable office practices
- Relevant training/experience with data entry and information retrieval from computerized accounting system
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures to determine proper entries, prepare reports, and review records to possibly determine causes and results
- Proficient in the use of ten-key calculator, keyboarding, and writing skills
- Working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office
- Must be able to exercise problem solving skills as required
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to deal courteously and efficiently with vendors, staff, coworkers and customers
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
