The Senior Director, Employee Communications will lead the company’s global internal communications strategy, messaging and execution. Reporting to the SVP, Chief Communications Officer, they will be responsible for shaping how we connect with, inform and engage Equinix employees globally. The leader will create and implement communications narratives, moments and campaigns that bring the company’s strategy and culture to life in ways that support business priorities and inspire trust and confidence in the future.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive employee communications strategy aligned with the company’s vision, business priorities, and culture
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, providing counsel on messaging, organizational announcements, change communications, and employee engagement
Build and maintain a cohesive internal narrative that reinforces company goals, culture, and values
Employee Engagement & Culture Enablement
Drive communication campaigns that promote culture, belonging, and organizational values
Partner with The People Team and Business Operations to amplify initiatives related to the Equinix operating model, continuous improvement, transformation, and the employee experience
Change & Transformation Communications
Lead communications for organizational changes and ongoing transformation initiatives
Translate complex business changes into simple, clear, human-centered messaging that fosters understanding, confidence and trust
Channels, Content, and Editorial Management
Oversee internal channels such as intranet, newsletters, all-hands meetings, manager toolkits, videos, and digital communications platforms
Ensure content quality, consistency, and brand alignment across all platforms
Establish editorial calendars and communication rhythms across the enterprise
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
Use analytics to measure engagement, readability, and effectiveness of communication channels and campaigns
Partner with employee listening team to integrate pulse insights into communication strategies
Continually refine approaches to improve clarity, reach, and impact
Team Leadership
Lead and develop a high-performing internal communications team
Manage resources, budgets, and external vendors or agencies as needed
Foster a culture of creativity, clarity, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Experience
Deep experience within communications, public relations, corporate affairs, or related fields
Experience in a large, global, matrixed organization strongly preferred.
Proven track record of advising senior executives and writing executive-level materials
Experience leading communications for transformation, change management, and culture initiatives
Skills & Capabilities
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
Strong strategic thinking and ability to simplify complex ideas
Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams
Expertise in employee engagement and organizational communication practices
