About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physician Liaison for Mount Nittany Health -Service Lines plays a critical role in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external referring providers, medical practices, and community partners to drive patient volume and awareness of Mount Nittany Health Service Lines including: Cardiovascular Care, Cancer Care, and Musculoskeletal.   This role is responsible for strategic outreach, education, and communication to promote the service line’s capabilities and ensure a positive referral experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, healthcare administration, or a related field required.

Experience:

  1. 3 years of experience in healthcare sales, physician relations, or business development; broad experience along various hospital service lines preferred.
  2. Proven ability to build and manage professional relationships with physicians and healthcare providers.
  3. Knowledge of various service line services, care pathways, and referral processes.
  4. Experience working in a hospital, ambulatory care, or physician practice setting preferred.
  5. Familiarity with and integrated service lines preferred.
  6. Strong understanding of patient access challenges and referral workflows preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Ability to prioritize, work independently and manage multiple projects/priorities across multiple locations.

  2. Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills.

  3. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

  4. Thorough knowledge and use of various PC applications as follows: PowerPoint, Excel applications, database applications, process flow diagramming applications, electronic mail, word processing and the overall ability to learn and use new systems.

License/Certification/Registration:

  1. Current and valid driver’s license required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives minimal supervision from the Chief Provider Network Officer, Service Line Director Musculoskeletal Services, and the Director Brand and Community Engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Referral Development:
    1. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external primary care physicians, urgent care providers, specialists, and other referral sources to drive growth in service line volumes.
    2. Identify referral patterns, opportunities, and barriers through data analysis and provider feedback.
  2. Support the onboarding of new physicians and create introductions to referring providers in the community.
  3. Outreach and Engagement:
    1. Conduct regular field visits to physician offices, clinics, and community organizations.
    2. Organize and participate in events, presentations, lunch-and-learns, and educational sessions related to Mount Nittany Health service line offerings.
  4. Communication and Coordination:
    1. Serve as the point of contact for referral partners to troubleshoot issues, ensure timely feedback on referrals, and promote a seamless referral experience.
    2. Work closely with strategy team members, service line leadership, scheduling, marketing, and clinical departments to streamline processes and enhance the patient experience.
  5. Collaborate with marketing and service line leaders to promote new programs, providers, and service capabilities.
  6. Align outreach efforts with strategic priorities.
  7. Sales Strategy and Reporting:
    1. Collaborate with marketing and service line leadership to develop targeted outreach campaigns aligned with strategic growth goals.
    2. Maintain accurate records of outreach activity and report monthly on progress, market intelligence, and competitive insights.
  8. Market and Competitor Analysis:
    1. Monitor competitor offerings, market trends, and provider needs to inform strategic planning and differentiate Mount Nittany Health services.
    2. Track referral trends, analyze patterns and implement strategies to strengthen referral pipelines
