Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director, Labor & Employee Relations will shape and oversee the implementation of effective Labor & Employee Relations solutions for PAGNY’s 3,500+ employees. The Director, Labor & Employee Relations will provide strategic direction, leadership and expertise in on Employee & Labor Relations and Compliance. The Director, Labor & Employee Relations will establish programs, practices and training to support the adherence to all relevant employment laws and regulations. Working closely with the Director of Benefits and the Director of Talent Acquisition, will establish consistent labor & employee relation practices throughout the various PAGNY locations. The Director, Labor & Employee Relations will be the definitive authority on employee and labor relations matters, collaborating with the General Counsel’s office as needed.
- Develop guidelines, policies and procedures for the proper handling of employee & labor relations issues and investigations in accordance with applicable employment and labor laws
- Provide support and guidance for site HR leaders in the education and counsel of all levels of supervision on employee and labor relations matters.
- Ensure proper and uniform interpretation and implementation of multiple collective bargaining agreements including the grievance, arbitration and collective bargaining process.
- Oversee the creation of employee relations tools, programs, and processes to mitigate factors negatively impacting organizational performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of a variety of qualitative and quantitative measures to track the effectiveness of employee & labor relations processes.
- Recommend and establish human resources policies and procedures.
- Examine and re-engineer operations and procedures and develop and implement new strategies and procedures
- Create strategic training and organizational development plans to meet personal, professional, and organizational needs of employees
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have a proven progressive track record in Labor & Employee Relations, preferably in a hospital or other health care setting at a Director Level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required with a minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role. A Juris Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal state and city laws pertaining to employment and labor matters.
- Strong leadership skills, including organization, project management, delegation and analytical skills.
- Ability to apply creative problem solving to various business issues.
- Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization and influence key decision makers.
- Ability to facilitate and lead change effectively.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time-frames
