About the role

WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

The Manager, Technical Operations will work to address the increasing scope and complexity of manufacturing operations at the shift and suite level. The Manager, Technical Operations will report to the Senior Manager, Operations, and lead a combined team of operations engineers and scientists embedded across four rotating operations shifts. Responsibilities will encompass all activities related to leading a technical team including proper staffing, performance management, training curricular assignment/ maintenance and growth/development.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

The Manager, Technical Operations will act on behalf of the Senior Manager, Operations in representing the asset on technical activities. Additionally, the Manager, Technical Operations will partner with the on-shift People Leader to ensure the operations shift has support from its embedded engineers and understands batch/process status from a technical perspective. Key tasks include enhancing shift-to-shift continuity of technical operations topics, empowering engineers and supplementing floor support with frontline troubleshooting, acting as the main interface for additional technical and Operations Support where needed, and driving career development with a technical focus for the operations engineers.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Elevating the contributions and focusing priorities for engineers and scientists across multiples shifts

  • Working with Operations Support in analyzing equipment and process issues and supporting related investigations. 

  • Advising management of non-conformance issues and opportunities for continuous improvement via data trend analysis, interpretation of data, gap analysis and implementation of corrective activities. 

  • Providing input on decisions for SOP’s, batch records, forms or other cGMP related documents developed or revised to support continuous improvement efforts, investigation corrective actions, process descriptions, manufacturing operations, automation control (DeltaV, etc.) and regulatory audit commitments.

  • Providing input to Operations Support for new processes for clinical or commercial production in mAb or vaccine manufacturing facilities. This can include facility fit analysis and direct input into tech transfer documentation. This may also include new capital equipment purchases and the implementation of new technologies.

The Manager, Technical Operations will conduct all activities and makes decisions in accordance with Company policies & SOPs, Pfizer Values, & global regulatory guidelines (including cGMP/cGLP/cGCP), environmental guidelines, as appropriate, etc. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience; OR a master's degree with at least 3 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR as associate's degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience.

  • A robust grasp of industry knowledge and business operations, such as financial basics, enterprise systems like payroll and inventory management

  • Proficiency in administrative, managerial, and technical report writing skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Strong computer and presentation capabilities

  • Experience in people management

  • Knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements

Nice-to-Have

  • Certifications in Continuous Improvement or Project Management

  • Familiarity with Local Environmental Health and Safety standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience in motivating and developing team members

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
