ROLE SUMMARY
This role involves working in close collaboration with cross-functional Asset Teams and senior leaders within Pfizer R&D (PRD) to identify strategic issues, support discussions on complex strategic tradeoffs, and implement qualitative and/or quantitative analyses to inform decision-making.
The Senior Manager of PDA is a key nexus for Commercial, R&D, Medical, Access, Regulatory, and partner lines, within the context of the Medicine Team. They are responsible for partnering with the cross-functional Asset Teams to drive strategic alignment for the early-stage and late-stage investment opportunities in the Category pipeline, in the context of Category and Enterprise strategies. PDA owns the objective qualitative and quantitative business case development for a range of early / late-stage assets, life-cycle opportunities and technology platforms, highlighting the opportunities and risks to Category and Executive leadership. In addition, the role will also be responsible for advising key Category portfolio and strategic initiatives. The PRD Organization encompasses Anti-infectives, Vaccines, Inflammation & Immunology, and/or Internal Medicine programs in the R&D pipeline. The Senior Manager may work with a PDA Director as part of a PDA team or independently, depending on the level of experience.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Decision Analysis
Provides decision context by contributing to objective business case development by cross-functional Asset Teams.
Leads or may supports, strategic alignment workshops with Asset Teams to identify key development options and strategic implications.
Develops comprehensive valuation analyses to understand and communicate the sensitivities and drivers of value; may own analysis, depending on team and experience.
Begins to leverage relationships across the company to gather assumptions, validate information, and socialize decisions, potentially working with a PDA Director to gain alignment with teams.
Portfolio Analysis and Reporting
Generates decision context (e.g., portfolio budget implications and potential trade-offs) for Asset Teams and Category Leadership.
Contributes to the development of Category Strategy.
Assists in pull-through of Category Strategy to go-forward R&D investments.
Supports asset and portfolio-level reporting for operating plan, long range forecast, and portfolio prioritization exercises.
Governance
Guides Asset Teams and Category leadership on investment governance processes and templates.
Advises Category and Executive Governance on the risks and opportunities of a potential R&D investments.
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree in life science, finance, or business. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years of experience, lesser with advanced degree. 2-5 years' experience in management consulting, investment banking, equity research, strategic planning, portfolio management, or decision a
