Job OverviewThe Coordinator Curriculum – World Language will be responsible for the overall development and management of district curriculum, instructional priorities, teacher and administrator professional learning, and identification of recommended resources for the assigned program area. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in the area of World Language curriculum design, program development, and implementation to promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development
- Lead the planning, development, evaluation, revision and maintenance of the district curriculum
- Develop, monitor, maintain, and evaluate curriculum program guides, instructional resources, and World Language programming
- Collaborate with curriculum team members to create and revise curriculum, assessment, intervention, and enrichment documents
- Articulate, support, and oversee implementation of district instructional priorities aligned to the District’s philosophy for Teaching and Learning
- Evaluate the implementation of the curriculum and World Language programs using multiple data points including instructional walk-throughs and assessments
- Collaborate with district and campus administrators to ensure implementation of the District’s curriculum
- Design, coordinate and conduct professional learning and presentations for teachers, district personnel, parents, and other stakeholders aligned to best practices for instruction and adult learning
- Advise and support district-wide curriculum events and contests related to the District’s instructional programs
- Facilitate the use of data to determine student progress, make instructional and programmatic decisions, and evaluate curricular needs
- Attend state and national conferences and serve on committees to advance best practices in curriculum design and implementation and World Language programs
- Serve as member of a Campus Support Team to engage in instructional walk-throughs and facilitate campus support structures in collaboration with the campus principal and district leaders
- Monitor and maintain student achievement data, including World Language related assessments, and provide regular updates to applicable stakeholders to promote the success of all students
- Collaborate to develop and administer a budget based on alignment to district priorities and ensure that operations are cost effective and managed wisely
- Develop and/or update required district documents including the District Improvement Plan and District Strategic Plan
- Coordinate the selection and purchase of instructional materials, professional development, products, and services
- Manage the maintenance and use of the curriculum within the learning management system
- Coordinate instructional program components, support needs, and materials for the purpose of meeting student needs while complying with district and/or program guidelines
- Screen, interview, and assist campuses with hiring and supporting District of Innovation (DOI) teachers for World Languages when there is a need to hire non-certified teachers
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies
- Assist in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of assigned staff
- Supervise the development and implementation of the District’s curriculum
- Provide leadership and direction to campus based instructional personnel to support the implementation and use of the District’s curriculum
- Conduct performance appraisals of assigned staff
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
