The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Performance & Analytics Data Analyst Co-op Student/Intern for the Winter & Summer (January to August 2025) work terms to support the Finance team. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Performance & Analytics branch is tasked with calculating, benchmarking, attributing and reporting of investment performance results for all asset classes, strategies and clients. Performance reports and analyses are used to help client trustees perform their fiduciary duty in oversight of BCI’s investment management, to assist management in understanding the drivers of return and evaluating the success of strategies and initiatives, and more importantly to provide the feedback loop to support investment decision making.   

This role will work in the Performance Analytics and Support team, which delivers analytics solutions (e.g. reports and dashboards), curated re-usable datasets, and supports performance analytics needs through sourcing, transforming and managing data for the Performance & Analytics branch and other performance data consumers. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Supporting the implementation of Performance & Analytics projects and initiatives

  • Gathering requirements for low to medium-complexity projects

  • Working closely with Performance & Analytics team members to address gaps in data products and meet reporting requirements

  • Test and document new data product builds

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Has a keen interest in the business aspects of data and analytics, and making sense of how it ties to Investment Performance Analytics

  • Is an effective communicator and good listener

  • Focuses on value-driven innovation

  • Strong individual initiative with the ability to take a proactive approach to assigned projects and new team initiatives

  • Ready to learn more about the investment management industry and how data drives it

  • Competitive pay: Mid / Back Office: $2,260.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,090.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,260.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree or joining the Investment Strategy & Risk department and $2,090.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)
