Job Summary
• This position is responsible for radiation protection activities during normal plant operations and will participate in the emergency preparedness for the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. The position will also be assigned radiation protection duties during refueling and maintenance periods. As a member of the Emergency Response Organization, the position will be expected to respond to callouts within times established by plant procedures, requiring the candidates to be willing to live within a radius that would satisfy those response times.Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Develop and maintain proficiency and technical expertise in the key areas of station radiation protection and emergency response.
- Physical requirements are necessary to negotiate in-plant areas to assess the radiological conditions including climbing stairs and ladders, as well as being physically qualified to wear respiratory protection for industrial safety and radiological safety reasons.
- Support extended plant maintenance periods such as refueling outages. Those periods routinely require extended work hours and shift work.
- Participate in the CPNPP Emergency Organization as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Minimal background and knowledge requirements:
- High school diploma/GED equivalent
- ANSI 18.1 Radiation Protection Technician qualification
- 2 years commercial nuclear power experience
Preferred background and knowledge requirements:
- AS in science related field or college level math and sciences, or
- Current member of the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists
- Knowledge of systems within a PWR nuclear power plant
- ANSI 3.1 Radiation Protection Technician qualification
- Instrument, ALARA, Shipping or other specialty experience a plus
